Node Sponsorship Programs: I-Corps Teams

SBIR Phase 0 helps teams hone their market fit, identify available resources and next steps, and apply for SBIR funding with Node support.

The UNY Node will award 12 ‘non-traditional’ teams sponsorship and a $30,000 grant to participate in the national NSF I-Corps Teams program. Successful applicants will be strong teams with innovative STEM technology, who are not otherwise eligible for the traditional I-Corps academic track, as defined by the I-Corps Teams Solicitation (currently NSF 18-515).

Two Kinds of Teams Can Apply:

Mentor Pilot Teams

“Mentor Pilot” sponsorship is for university-based STEM researchers who do not have an industry mentor for their I-Corps team, but otherwise meet all qualifications for I-Corps Teams as defined by the I-Corps Teams Solicitation (currently NSF 18-515). Mentor Pilot teams will be assigned a mentor by the teaching team at the I-Corps cohort they attend.

Startup Pilot Teams

“Startup Pilot” sponsorship is for early stage startups with a reasonable university connection. This includes recent graduates, active alums, and teams at university-affiliated incubator and accelerator programs. Successful applicants will have innovative STEM technology, but are not otherwise eligible for the traditional I-Corps academic track, as defined by the I-Corps Teams Solicitation (currently NSF 18-515).
